Hike, Blade and Beach

Our next morning started out at a newer SLO fav, Scout Coffee. They now have two locations in San Luis and we went to the shop on  Foothill Foothill. The decor is on point and their homemade almond milk will make you sing.

I tried the scone with scallions and goat cheese which was delicious. The vibe was LOUD… I don’t know how someone could study there but maybe on a weekday it would be less rambunctious. scoutcoffeeimg_3454scoutcoffeeimg_3456

After our coffee and pastries, we headed to Avila to hike the Ridge Trail. This time we parked closer to Pirates Cove… off Cave Landing.

We started at the hill of doom, much better going up than down.hillofdeathavilaridgetrail

Once we caught our breaths… well once I caught my breath we selfied 🙂bestiesavilaridgetrail

SO amazingly beautiful and vast. Once we were leaving we noticed that it had gotten a lot more crowded. We were lucky that we had so much alone trail time.avilaridgetrailwildflowersofavilaridgetrailavilaridgetrailpeace

After our hike, we put on our blades and rolled down the Bob Jones Trailbobjonesbladeseash

Once in Avila, we stopped for lunch and brews and then headed back on the trail to finish our 5 mile round trip blade sesh.midbladelunchatcustomhouseavila

Saturday Night, we had plans to camp at Montana de Oro State Park.   This is probably one of the most beautiful places you will ever go in your life. mdomdosunsetmdoimg_9237montanamdoimg_3499sunsetbestiesmdosunsetatmdoyummysunsetatmdo

Is this real life??? Views and Brews?!! On this somewhat stormy Saturday Night Libertine Pub in Morro Bay was pretty empty but a live band came on at eight that brought in more of a crowd. We enjoyed dinner and a few brewskies. libertinepub

What a fulfilling day!

Tahoe : A Winter Wonderland

My Friends and I took a four-day weekend to head up to Tahoe for some snow play and R & R.  tahoeinthewinterimg_3079

Someone was really excited for her first snow of the year!tahoeinthewinterimg_3081-2tahoeinthewinterimg_3083tahoeinthewinterimg_3084

Mickey was intrigued. It was her first time in the snow and she loved it!tahoeinthewinterimg_3086-2tahoeinthewinterimg_3087

First things first, upon arrival we had to cool down the brewskis in the snow.tahoeinthewinterimg_3089

Our cute rental for the weekend! Allowed dogs and had beds for twelve people… and a hot tub!tahoeinthewinterimg_3107

We rented boards from Sports Basement for the Weekend and had booked our lift tickets online for Homewood. Cheaper deals if you buy online. Saturday it was snowing a lot! We had to buy goggles since we hadn’t anticipated the conditions.

As this was my first time snowboarding EVER we hit the bunny slopes first… I fell A LOT but it was really fun!tahoeinthewinterimg_3097tahoeinthewinterimg_3099

Jer was an amazing teacher and was very patient with me!tahoeinthewinterimg_3108

Finally, took the t-bar up to .. I guess you could say… second bunny slope, a little bit longer. ALL times I took the t-bar I fell off or let it drag me the rest of the way… what can I say I am not the most coordinated. Our first day we lasted about 4 hours and at that point my tailbone was sore and so was just about every other muscle. ALSO, I learned not to wear two pairs of socks with my boots … SO TIGHT and painful.tahoeinthewinterimg_3109-2tahoeinthewinterimg_3103-2tahoeinthewinterimg_3118-2tahoeinthewinterimg_3119

Next day, I awoke very sore but ready to try it again! I only had two days – I needed to get out there and shred to the fullest. We did a few bunny slope runs and then a few t-bar runs before we took the lift. tahoeinthewinterimg_3134-2tahoeinthewinterimg_3121-2tahoeinthewinterimg_3137-2tahoeinthewinterimg_3117-2

To be honest, I don’t think I was scared enough regarding taking the lift but let me say – it is really scary! Especially when you are mildly afraid of heights like I am. All three times I took the lift I face planted when getting off! I am just glad I wasn’t injured!

The views were definitely rewarding once we made it to the top! MY golly it was beautiful. I also loved how meandering the ‘green’ ( easy) trails were… it was pretty magical to glide through the trees until I fell… and fell again and again, despite all the falling I enjoyed myself. Once we reached the 4 hour mark I was done and ready to get into that hot tub back at our rental!

Overall, I would snowboard again. I definitely want to try downhill skiing at some point… maybe this year?! But I think I will be more of a snowshoe(r) / cross country skier… speed kinda scares me… I am not ruling downhill out of the picture completely but don’t think I will ever be a black diamond snowboarder! tahoeinthewinterimg_3143

Tahoe was AMAZING in the Winter. My heart is so full! Can we go back?!
