(SLO)ME

Last weekend my friend and I took a trip from the Bay to the Central Coast. We lived together in SLO during college and were looking forward to a weekend of all our favorite SLO area things.

First stop Firestone, dinner and a flight were a must after nearly three hours in the car. Have really been loving the sours coming out of Firestone. firestoneflight

Next morning up and ready to go early, gotta get our Black Horse and SLO Donut Co. fix.  They even have gluten free donuts these days… so no excuses not to go!blackhorseandslodoco

Chels and I both had work to do in the morning but once the afternoon rolled around we were raring for a hike!  We found the Cuesta Ridge Botanical Hike and couldn’t believe we hadn’t done it before. Equal parts up and downhill but filled with epic views from start to finish!cuestabontanicalgardenimg_3387cuestabontanicalgardenimg_9152

Even waterfalls! cuestbotanicalgardentrail

A well deserved summit Brew! cuestabontanicalgardenimg_9155cuestabontanicalgardencuestridgetrail

Wooooweee does life getter better than these views! So amazing.cuestaridgetrail

What is my favorite thing to after a bunz busting hike? Drink a brew or two of course…

We headed to Bang the Drum Brewery. Great space, indoor and out. Really friendly staff and most importantly great beers!bangthedrumbbangthedrumbbrewingimg_3439

We went back to the hotel to freshen up before heading downtown for the night.

On our way DT we stopped at Central Coast Brewing for a couple baby beers.centralcoastbrewingimg_3444centralcoastbrewingimg_3443centralcoastbrewingimg_3445

Next stop, Barrelhouse Speakeasy. This is one of the coolest spaces I have ever been to. A fully functioning barbershop and then a full on taproom downstairs.

Super crowded on a Friday night but really fun.barrelhousespeakeasyimg_3446barrelhousespeakeasyimg_9202

Looking forward to sharing the rest of our weekend this week!

Drink Ventura Beer!

Trying Santa Barbara / Ventura Breweries has been on my bucket list for awhile now and I really lucked out that the day I was driving though Ventura my friend had the day off and had a day of brewery hopping planned.

venturacraftbeerimg_2678

Ventura Coast Brewing has a great aesthetic and had great beers on tap when I visited. They have games in the taproom and you can order food to eat there.

Next stop Topa Topa Brewing in Ventura. We were there on an overcast day but they have a great patio that I would love to hang out on when the sun is out – with sunblock and a hat of course.venturacraftbeerimg_2686venturacraftbeerimg_2684venturacraftbeerimg_2683

Isn’t this flight tray the cutest? Love the attention to detail!venturacraftbeerimg_2688

Next stop… Beach House Tacos.  My burrito and Michelada were top notch!

On to our final stop on the tour… MadeWest Brewing. Again… I think they did a great job creating a space where people want to hang out and drink their beer. I really enjoyed what they had to offer!

I wish I lived closer to Ventura so I could hit up these places more often – such quality!

Huge thanks to Melissa and Samantha for letting me crash your beer tour! Had so much fun and can’t wait to do it again.

Cape Cod… you are beautiful!

Being a West Coaster my whole life I have heard of Cape Cod and seen pictures or videos but I couldn’t understand how beautiful it was until I was actually there.
IMG_3773IMG_3775 IMG_3777 IMG_3786 Who would want to sail away from here?IMG_3788 IMG_3791 While we weren’t too hungry but Quicks Hole looked delicious so we stopped there for some lunch.  The local hot spot did not disappoint. I enjoyed the clam chowder and a lobster taco. I didn’t get any pictures because I immediately dug in!  Not too hungry… sure…IMG_3792 IMG_3793 Lots of cool old buildings in Woods Hole. Also a free aquarium and other free/donation only scientifical places.IMG_3794 IMG_3795 For perspective, little Kate – big lighthouse.IMG_3796 IMG_3799 Future job: Lighthouse keeper. Whatta view!IMG_3800 IMG_3801 IMG_3802 At the Cape Cod Brew Fest Katie got an alcohol infused ice cream! She loved it.  This is the only photo I took at Beer Fest? Guess I was too busy toastin and enjoying fine brews!IMG_3805

Loved Cape Cod! I can not wait to go back and stay a little longer.

Drink Vermont Beer!

Greetings from the land of Maple syrup, Cider, and Craft Beers! This little state sure has a whole lot to offer – be prepared to drink, eat, and then drink and eat some more. Better find a good hiking trail to burn it all off!

Here we are at the state capital – Montpelier!IMG_3537 You would think in a state popular for their pancakes and maple syrup we could easily find breakfast! Not the case at all. Some towns we rolled through didn’t even have anything open in the morning. One place we stopped had a two hour wait?! Finally we happened upon this tiny cute place in Montpelier. No wait and we had a delicious breakfast!IMG_3541 Here are some shots of Montpelier. IMG_3542 IMG_3543 IMG_3544 IMG_3551 State Building. IMG_3552 IMG_3555 Next stop, Ben and Jerry’s factory! And an opportunity to take funny pictures of my friends. They were good sports. 🙂IMG_3560 The Flavor Graveyard is a really funny cemetery for all the flavors that didn’t work out and they have stopped producing. IMG_3562 Next stop, Prohibition Pig. SUPER friendly staff, cool location and great beers! It sounds crazy but we did not eat here cause we were still full from breakfast but the food looked amazing – my beers were tasty and we got a growler to go!IMG_3563 Next stop we tried some cheese at Cabot. Probably one of the most unsanitary things ever but really fun to try different cheeses.IMG_3565Onto the Cider Mill but not just any cider mill, Cold Hollow Cider Mill. If I lived near this it would be dangerous! I would have diabetes in a hot minute – but man hot cider and cider donuts – I hope they serve this in heaven. Mmm tasty.
IMG_3566 IMG_3567 IMG_3568 We have all seen the Sound of Music right?? Well this spot will blow your mind. The Trapp Family settled here because it reminded them of their native Austria. The lodge itself is beautiful, but the surroundings are truly breathtaking and the brewskis are on point! Head to Trapp Family Brewery for a one of a kind experience.  I hope to stay here one day!IMG_3569 IMG_3571 IMG_3572 IMG_3573 I loved how traditional their brews were, very authentic, no crazy flavors here, just honest to goodness beer. IMG_3574 I couldn’t help myself – picture perfect. I can only imagine how beautiful it is in the winter!IMG_3578 Me and my Krausey – I am so lucky to have her as a friend. I know she loves me because she doesn’t complain ( too much) about taking me to try different breweries even though she is not a hop head. IMG_3587 IMG_3589 Last stop of the night was Lost Nation brewery, really amazing food, the beer prices were the most reasonable I have ever seen – not too mention delicious… Wooowie it was a flight to remember. IMG_3591 IMG_3593 IMG_3595 IMG_3599

That sums up my day in Vermont. Can’t wait to spend more time here in the future. There is so much more to do and see. Glad I got to sample what this Green Mountain state has to offer.

Weekly Delights in the Bay!

I was all over the bay this last weekend, between SF, Oakland and North Bay I wanted to share a few of my haunts and jaunts with y’all.
IMG_3236

New coffee shop near work, Modern Coffee. The internet is amazing and there are soft jams playing in the background which lend to a productive mood. IMG_3235

One of my fav haunts in Cole Valley – where you never have to wait in line.  Reverie Cafe  is a sweet little spot that I like to think of as a hidden gem.  Isn’t their patio dreamy?

IMG_3253 IMG_3254 IMG_3255

If you are ever in Santa Rosa head to Spring Lake. Bring your floaties, your dogs, your lunch and beers – once you are here you won’t want to leave. Peaceful, relaxing and refreshing. I can’t wait to go back again. I love to get a sandwich from Perry’s in Novato to munch on when I am adventuring in North Bay. Disclaimer: I have only ever been to the Novato location which I love.
IMG_3277

This cute little fluff gets me every time.

IMG_3266

Whenever I go to the sunset in San Francisco you best believe I will be getting some Tea Way – one of the only places I like to get Boba.

IMG_3264

Philz in Sausalito is a bit hidden but so worth it, duh. If you are lucky you might even catch the fire men washing their rig like we did!

IMG_3259

In love with Terrapin Crossroads! We came here for my friends birthday for drinks and apps and I can not wait to go back. Live music, amazing patio, fresh local grub and beer, could I ask for anything more? I think not. Check it out if you haven’t – you won’t be disappointed.

IMG_3258

Feelin’ lucky because Drake’s Dealership just opened up a few blocks from my office. Went there for a week time lunch and while it went a little long.. it also left me feeling refreshed. They have an amazing outdoor patio and I can’t wait to go back on a weekend with dog friends. IMG_3271Great beer selection here, are you surprised?!IMG_3272

Give me pizza.. with Figs and Prosciutto. Yum!IMG_3274

Enjoying the last shreds of summer hiking in Tilden Park after work. Beautiful!

IMG_3280

On to the next adventure! Let me know if you think I should try a place you love – trying to make the most out of my time in the Bay!
