The night my friends and I went was ‘Spring Soups’!

We made crispy salmon, warm potato salad with a watercress sauce/soup. A build your own tortilla soup bar and for dessert a strawberry champagne soup with vanilla ice cream, fried basil, and other accents.18reasonsIMG_4709

Making the crispy salmon was easy and delicious.18reasonsIMG_4710

Building the tortilla soup and adding the broth at the end allowed for a fun and different aromatic experience!18reasonsIMG_4713

Fav Things in the Bay

This past weekend I had a couple friends visit, last minute, in the middle of the week… which can be the best kind of visits… the best places are way less crowded on a Thursday!

The weather had been rainy all week but we were lucky to have sunny skies over us on the day they were visiting.

First Stop… Beauty’s Bagels! Yes, it is a bit hipstery ( whatever that means…) but it isgenuinelyy delicious and one of my favorite places in Oakland for breakfreast.

I always take people here who are visiting and they always love it. I love the Veggie bagel but this particular day I tried the fried chicken and let me tell you… it was some of the best friend chicken I have ever had.IMG_4411

After fueling up, we headed to Tenessee Valley for a hike!  This is a leisure hike that you can make more challenging or longer as you see fit for you and your group.

Always layer!FullSizeRenderIMG_4416756FF0A7-DC46-484F-A84C-7CD04E432AE9IMG_4418IMG_4422

Next stop! One of my ALL TIME fav mexican restaurants I have ever been to, The Sausalito Taco Shop. The crema, the micheladas, the seafood… yes PLEASE!IMG_4445

After lunch, it was time for some beer! We headed back across the Richmond Bridge for one of my fav breweries ( are you sensing a theme? Of course I would take my friends to do my favorite things! ), Fieldwork in Berkeley.

I am NEVER disappointed here and I always take home a crowler, growler or apparel! … I just love it!IMG_4447IMG_4449

Next stop, Rare Barrel… If you LOVE Sours…where have you been??? Get to The Rare Barrel. The server asked if we were on Spring Break… We took it as a compliment… life should be one long spring break!IMG_4456IMG_4454IMG_4457

After heading home to clean up we hit my neighborhood brewery, Temescal.IMG_4488IMG_4494

Love the beer garden here… dreaming of Summer already!IMG_4502IMG_4495

SO glad that these two came and visited me! It allowed me to visit my favorite places with two of the funniest people I know!

Come back anytime!IMG_4510

We then headed to one of my fav Korean spots, Bowl’d BBQIMG_4512

After that, we hit one last brewery, Woods in Uptown Oakland. Love the fire pit vibes they set up!IMG_4513IMG_4514

Additionally, if you want to dance on a Thursday night, head to Era Art Bar… always a fun time!

And… there you have it! A few of my favorite things… in the BAY!

Drink SF Beer Shuttle

The Drink SF Beer Shuttle is possibly one of the best ways to check out all the breweries that SF has to offer in the ones that can be hard to get to/ more out of the way. Lucky for you it is coming back around this Wednesday, September 21 so you still have a chance to experience this fun night.

If you live out in the Sunset area of San Francisco chances are you have been to Sunset Reservoir but if you haven’t I do suggest you check it out next time you are in there hood.

They had really great food and a fun atmosphere.img_8423img_8424img_8425img_8426

Next we hit Black Sands which is great and has a nice selection of food but every time I have been it is super crowded so we didn’t stay long!img_8427img_8428

Finally, we hit Barrel Head Brewhouse , where the beer is darn good and the fried green tomato sandwich gives life. img_8430img_8431img_8435

Can’t wait to get on the bus this week to visit another round of amazing SF Breweries!

Snapshots this Week

Went to Mamacita’s Cafe in Uptown for the first time and can’t wait to go back! Delicious coffee and great mission!IMG_7129

Driving from the bay to my parents house on the central coast makes for amazing views! Sometimes you have to pull over and snap it up. IMG_7149

I am going to guess that you haven’t been to Parkfield, Ca. They have a population of 18 and claim to be the earthquake capital of the world… if that isn’t enough to get you to head over the cafe has in the top two best burger I have ever had… The first being from The Hitching Post in Buellton. IMG_7151

Fun bar stool!IMG_7152

The reason for heading to Parkfield last weekend was their Annual Bluegrass Festival. It was the best festival experience I have ever had and I hope we make it a yearly tradition.IMG_7167IMG_7161IMG_7166

Weekday lunch with my Dad and I am oh so thankful for moments like this together.IMG_7180

Links I love: Summa Stuff

These links are getting me really excited for trips and summer time…lazy days camping and tough days backpacking. I hope you enjoy them and get inspired!

I really really wanted to get one of these, Fatboy’s hangout chair but all my friends have laughed at me! If you have one let me know … I still want it… I feel like it would be awesome to take to the park this summer!

Just bought this product, called, DeFunkIt for my upcoming trip where I will be living out of a carryon for a month. I will try to update y’all and let you know how it goes and if it truly De-FUNKS my stinky clothes!

Serious eye candy right here, thirty beautiful hikes to dream about and plan a trip in the future!

If seeing those beautiful hikes were not enough to get you to plan a trip than check this out – ‘The Science of Why you should spend your Money on Experiences, Not Things.’

If that fails, use these tutorials to DIY a hammock for your space. I am not sure how easy it will be but hopefully it will be super worth it and provide you a little R&R at home!

Have an awesome week!

Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

We went a little ham at the farmers market this weekend! That being said I have made a couple yummy recipes using asparagus. Have a craving for fries but want to be a little healthier, whip up these Asparagus Fries! Okay, so they aren’t really super fry like but I think you can use your imagination. Next, I made this delicious frittata with Asparagus, Kale and Peppers, 10/10 would make again.

There is an app for just about everything these days, but I recently heard about Truebill  which sounds like a dream come true for those of us who can be a little bit lazy checking every recurring charge. Haven’t tried it yet, because like I mentioned I am a bit laaazy but it sounds really awesome!

If you have read my blog for any length of time you have probably come to the realization that I enjoy beer, I would say its probably one of my favorite pastimes, reading about it, drinking it etc… so when a friend sent me this article last week with six reasons why you should date a guy who drinks beer I was laughing hysterically. Amen.

I went to Capitola last Fall and really loved it! This is a cute locals guide to the city. I hit a few things but missed some others, Oh well I guess I will have to go back!

Girl Scout Cookie Beer Pairing

It is Girl Scout Cookie season and what is a better way to enjoy them then with BEER!

I am not the first person to think of doing this, in fact the first place I heard about this fun idea was Woods Brewing located in San Francisco/Oakland. They brew cookie beers and pair them with their corresponding girl scout cookie. I went last year and LOVED it! As a past Girl Scout it was really fun to obtain a patch and bridge the gap between childhood pastimes and adult hobbies.

In that same spirit, a few friends and I decided to host our own Girl Scout Cookie Beer pairing this year.

We used this article from Beer and Brewing as a template for our own pairing, but used beers we could readily find locally and at Whole Foods/BevMo.

This will definelty become a yearly tradition for me.

I hope this post inspired you to try your hand at a pairing of your own!

If you are more of a Whiskey fan check out this pairing!

OR if Wine is what you like to fill your glass with check out this pairing!

Enjoy.
