Weekly Delights in the Bay!

I was all over the bay this last weekend, between SF, Oakland and North Bay I wanted to share a few of my haunts and jaunts with y’all.

New coffee shop near work, Modern Coffee. The internet is amazing and there are soft jams playing in the background which lend to a productive mood. IMG_3235

One of my fav haunts in Cole Valley – where you never have to wait in line.  Reverie Cafe  is a sweet little spot that I like to think of as a hidden gem.  Isn’t their patio dreamy?

If you are ever in Santa Rosa head to Spring Lake. Bring your floaties, your dogs, your lunch and beers – once you are here you won’t want to leave. Peaceful, relaxing and refreshing. I can’t wait to go back again. I love to get a sandwich from Perry’s in Novato to munch on when I am adventuring in North Bay. Disclaimer: I have only ever been to the Novato location which I love.

This cute little fluff gets me every time.

Whenever I go to the sunset in San Francisco you best believe I will be getting some Tea Way – one of the only places I like to get Boba.

Philz in Sausalito is a bit hidden but so worth it, duh. If you are lucky you might even catch the fire men washing their rig like we did!

In love with Terrapin Crossroads! We came here for my friends birthday for drinks and apps and I can not wait to go back. Live music, amazing patio, fresh local grub and beer, could I ask for anything more? I think not. Check it out if you haven’t – you won’t be disappointed.

Feelin’ lucky because Drake’s Dealership just opened up a few blocks from my office. Went there for a week time lunch and while it went a little long.. it also left me feeling refreshed. They have an amazing outdoor patio and I can’t wait to go back on a weekend with dog friends. IMG_3271Great beer selection here, are you surprised?!IMG_3272

Give me pizza.. with Figs and Prosciutto. Yum!IMG_3274

Enjoying the last shreds of summer hiking in Tilden Park after work. Beautiful!

On to the next adventure! Let me know if you think I should try a place you love – trying to make the most out of my time in the Bay!

Wearable Sleeping Bag

I have been wanting a Poler Napsack for quite sometime. I posted about it over a year ago and I still haven’t done anything about it!

As I was in the market for a new sleeping bag I thought maybe I should finally get the Poler Napsack.

I would have to get camo because I am obsessed with Camo.. thats my biggest draw for the Napsack, but in my online searching I found two other options that I am considering. In hopes of deciding between the three I have laid out my options here to identify which one will work best for me.

On the top of my list, the Poler Napsack.

Pros:

  • Style, cause duh CAMO

Cons:

  • Only great for super temperate climates, they say 50 degrees. I want to get something more versatile.

Next, I found the evergrn Crash Sack from REI.

Pros:

  • Price. When it was on sale. LOL Looked today and it is right around the same price.

Cons:

  • Style, not feeling it as much.
  • Only good till about 50 degrees. Same as the Poler.

Lastly, but certainly not least was a little local gem I found from Alite. It is called the Sexy Hotness Sleeping Bag.

Pros:

  • 20 degree Tempature rating! This is awesome. Especially for someone that runs as cold as me.
  • Just seems to be the most practical option.

Cons:

  • Not as cute as the poler, sorry, I just love the camo.

I am planning on heading to the Alite store this week to check it out in person.  If you have seen any of these walking/sleeping bag things let me know! I think it will be a good addition for all the traveling I plan to do.

Memorial Day Weekend

This last weekend was one for the books.  I had a great time outside with friends, drinking beer, hiking, smelling the ocean air and enjoying life!

It all started on Friday night with an amazing NEW meatball recipe that was so easy peezy and delicious, some wonderful fresh mojitos, chocolate fondue, early birthday celebration and girl time.

Saturday, we drove to San Luis Obispo for the California Festival of Beers! We tried amazing new beers and old favorites! For dinner, we went to Firestone – tri tip sandwich heaven!

Sunday, Chelsea took us to her new favorite coffee spot in SLO, Scout! The story behind this cute and delish coffee shop is as adorable as the family who owns it! I wish I still lived in SLO so I could hang out at this lil gem all the time.

IMG_7504 IMG_7505 IMG_7506 IMG_7514To truly get our SLO Cal fix we stopped at Montana De Oro. This stretch of coastline is so ruggedly Californian and its one of my favorite places to be.

IMG_7586 IMG_7587 IMG_7585To cap the long weekend off right we had one last adventure on Monday back in the Bay Area! We got up early and headed out to Bolinas for a hike at Alamere Falls! I have had a few friends recommend this hike so I thought it was time to try it! There is lots of poison oak on this trail – so make sure to know what it looks like before you head out! Also, I suggest wearing shoes with good tread as some parts getting to and from the beach can be very slippery.

Last stop, one of my all time favorites, The Salsalito Taco Shop! Pictured above was a yummy Watermelon Marg!

It was a great weekend filled with fun times and friends.

I am very thankful to all of the Men and Women who have sacrificed so much so that we can enjoy the freedoms we do. Thank you!

Im Back!

I can’t believe my trip is over – and now I sit here wondering – did that really happen?

I feel so fortunate to be able to travel and experience different parts of the world and other ways of living.

I love, love, LOVE the little life I live in the Bay and feel so fortunate for my friends, my job and all the adventures I get to take on the weekly.

BUT – it is truly awesome to explore new places and faces!

Slowly but surely I am going to upload our ‘itinerary’ that we created before the trip, what worked, what didn’t work, what we learned.  This is in hopes that you too can have an awesome SE Asia adventure!

One of our themes of the trip was – hindsight is 20/20 – In most cases, you learn as you go and this trip was no different. I do hope that by sharing our experiences you can learn from what we did and didn’t do.

Beautiful, huh?!
