My Friends and I took a four-day weekend to head up to Tahoe for some snow play and R & R.
Someone was really excited for her first snow of the year!
Mickey was intrigued. It was her first time in the snow and she loved it!
First things first, upon arrival we had to cool down the brewskis in the snow.
Our cute rental for the weekend! Allowed dogs and had beds for twelve people… and a hot tub!
We rented boards from Sports Basement for the Weekend and had booked our lift tickets online for Homewood. Cheaper deals if you buy online. Saturday it was snowing a lot! We had to buy goggles since we hadn’t anticipated the conditions.
As this was my first time snowboarding EVER we hit the bunny slopes first… I fell A LOT but it was really fun!
Jer was an amazing teacher and was very patient with me!
Finally, took the t-bar up to .. I guess you could say… second bunny slope, a little bit longer. ALL times I took the t-bar I fell off or let it drag me the rest of the way… what can I say I am not the most coordinated. Our first day we lasted about 4 hours and at that point my tailbone was sore and so was just about every other muscle. ALSO, I learned not to wear two pairs of socks with my boots … SO TIGHT and painful.
Next day, I awoke very sore but ready to try it again! I only had two days – I needed to get out there and shred to the fullest. We did a few bunny slope runs and then a few t-bar runs before we took the lift.
To be honest, I don’t think I was scared enough regarding taking the lift but let me say – it is really scary! Especially when you are mildly afraid of heights like I am. All three times I took the lift I face planted when getting off! I am just glad I wasn’t injured!
The views were definitely rewarding once we made it to the top! MY golly it was beautiful. I also loved how meandering the ‘green’ ( easy) trails were… it was pretty magical to glide through the trees until I fell… and fell again and again, despite all the falling I enjoyed myself. Once we reached the 4 hour mark I was done and ready to get into that hot tub back at our rental!
Overall, I would snowboard again. I definitely want to try downhill skiing at some point… maybe this year?! But I think I will be more of a snowshoe(r) / cross country skier… speed kinda scares me… I am not ruling downhill out of the picture completely but don’t think I will ever be a black diamond snowboarder!
Tahoe was AMAZING in the Winter. My heart is so full! Can we go back?!
